Born in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to a dairy farming family of 9, I grew up all over these United States; the East Coast to Texas, California to Washington state. As a young woman, I attended the Corcoran School of Art. Most recently, I trained to be a jeweler with a goldsmith in Washington, DC.
I began fabricating rudimentary pieces of jewelry in 2011 simply because I wanted to give my daughters something different for a Christmas present. Little did I know at the time that goldsmithing would grow to become my full time passion and obsession. Thus began my path as an artisan jeweler.
In 2013 my little enterprise officially became “Urban Jule”. The Urban Dictionary defines “Jule” as 1. Quirky. 2. Does things out of the ordinary. 3. Bold looks. 4. Changes. That pretty much defined my style (quirky, out of the ordinary, bold, changing) and was a great play on the word “jewel” so the name stuck. I become bored creating the same piece over and over so all of my creations are one of a kind…therefore you, my clientele, will own a piece of jewelry that is unique and belongs to no one but you.
I’m grateful every day that, as an artist, I can create some little slice of joy and beauty and send it out into the world. Hopefully, each piece that someone buys from Urban Jule will be passed down through family generations and that’s a legacy I will be very happy to claim.
